4 Ways to Instantly Update a Room with Light
We love when designers share their smart strategies for easily updating a room. Here are four fantastic lighting tips we found via the prominent design archive Houzz that came straight from Jason Ball, the principal designer of Jason Ball Interiors, LLC. These tips can help you make the lighting choices that will instantly transform a room.
1. Let the size determine the fixture: In smaller spaces use a few pin spotlights instead of a hanging fixture to create a feeling of openness. Place the spotlights so that they highlight beautiful pieces of furniture and artwork.
2. Create an instant art gallery: Instead of placing multiple ceiling fixtures in a hallway, try a monorail of track lighting to showcase family photos or kids’ artwork.
3. Light the perimeter: Recessed lighting along the perimeter of a room paired with indirect accent lighting can be amplified by light colored walls for a comfortable brightness.
4. Create contrasts and definition with fixtures: A large size fixture in a contrasting color can create a strong statement for the function and drama of a room.
