Lighting is important no matter what style interiors you are working with. But when it comes to contemporary and modern style interiors, this is a chance for lighting to really shine.  Inspired by a fantastic Houzz article, here are some helpful do’s and don’ts for ceiling fixtures that will hopefully give you the confidence to take risks and achieve stunning focal points in your contemporary or modern interiors.

Do’s

Consider color; if your palette is mostly white or neutral, opt for colorful fixtures.

Coordinate with the length of a table.

Hang ceiling fixtures in unexpected spaces.

Crate interest by hanging pendants at different heights.

Don’ts

Don’t assume all outdoor fixtures have to be outside.

Don’t assume all indoor fixtures have to stay indoors.

Don’t be afraid to be bold; play with scale, color and shapes.

Don’t forget about the entryway; it’s a chance to make a strong first impression.
