Are you installing new light fixtures inside your home? Trying to figure out how to ensure that your home has the proper lighting that will suit to your family’s needs?

If you’re installing new light fixtures inside your home, there are several things you’ll want to remember when choosing proper lighting for your home, according to the American Lighting Association.

Courtesy of the American Lighting Association, check out the questions below and ask yourself these when choosing lighting for your house.

  • What type of activities occur in each room inside your home? Is the room used for food preparation, homework, reading, etc?
  • What ambiance/mood would you like to create inside each room?
  • Are there any decorative pieces (artwork, wall textures, etc) you would like to emphasize inside each room?
  • Are there any areas inside your home that have dark finishes or dark wall colors? If so, these areas might require supplemental lighting because they absorb more light than lighter colors/finishes do.
