With the introduction and spike in usage of LED lights, it’s time to make your workroom lighting green. Whether it’s your home office, sewing or laundry room there needs to be adequate lighting. As much time as you spend in your workroom you want it to conserve energy and be comfortable. We found these 4 green workroom lighting tips in Lighting magazine and would like to share them with you. Keep them in mind as you switch to LED bulbs and change your fixtures for greener lighting.

  1. Replace your most used fixtures. Starting with whichever fixture you turn or leave on the most. If you are adding a layer to your previous lighting make sure to to use an energy efficient fixture, such as one with the Energy Star label.
  2. Use the right type of bulb for recessed lighting fixtures. Using the wrong type of bulb will cause it to blow quickly, it will also create excess heat and waste energy.
  3. Be on the lookout for smaller bulbs that feature increased wattage, color and control possibilities. Each will broaden decorative options.
  4. Use LED lights for downlights as well as accent lights. They work well under cabinets and illuminating art work.

You could literally green a spare room with an indoor garden. LED grow lights are becoming quite popular as well as EFDL Induction lamps for indoor growing year round. Advanced Hydroponics Canada specializes in these indoor grow lights. Why not shake off the winter blues with a nice hobby indoor herbal garden.
