Motion sensors are a good way to decrease energy waste because they only turn on when needed. They are easy to install and can save some money with little effort. Now, they aren’t for everyone. A motion sensor won’t save as much energy if you are the kind of person who regularly turns off the lights when leaving a room. But, if you are one of those who forgets to shut off the bathroom light, installing a motion sensor is an easy fix. Planet Green recommends installing a motion sensor in low-traffic areas. Installing a motion sensor in these areas will yield the most energy-saving benefit.

Good places to install a motion sensor:

  • The garage
  • the bathroom
  • the stairwell
  • the porch
  • the front door
  • basement
  • the attic
  • the laundry room
