Are you looking for ways to implement an eco-friendly lifestyle at home? Wondering how you can save money on your energy bill and conserve energy in your house? If you’d like to save energy with your indoor lighting, check out these excellent tips, courtesy of energysavers.org.

  • Switch out your traditional light bulbs for compact fluorescent light bulbs that are Energy Star qualified.
  • Swap out your old light fixtures for Energy Star qualified light fixtures. Energy Star light fixtures are available in many styles, including floor lamps, table lamps, desk lamps, bathroom vanity light fixtures, front porch lights, etc.
  • Consider setting up your light fixtures with dimmers, photo cells, and timers. Photo cells and timers turn off lights when they aren’t in use, which helps to save electricity, and dimmers work by lowering light levels, also conserving electricity.
  • Use light-colored, loose-weave curtains on your windows inside your house; these type of curtains will help you to utilize sunlight during the daytime, but will also allow you to keep your privacy.
